The Paradise Main Street Festival will feature live entertainment all day on Saturday, September 30, 2017. Opening Ceremonies at 9:00 AM will include the presentation of colors and taps by the Wise County Veterans Group and by a performance by the Paradise High School Band.
Following opening ceremonies, Mr. Dickie Greenwood will entertain festival-goers with his acoustic guitar and sing classic country and gospel. Though Mr. Greenwood is known locally for providing entertainment for weddings, banquets and parties; he is best known for his participation in the Sagerton Hee-Haw annual fundraiser in Sagerton (Haskell County), Texas for 32 years running. Mr. Greenwood also sings at church and mission trips.
Following Mr. Greenwood is Wise County’s precious HeartStrings. For those who may not be familiar, the HeartStrings is a group of Christian musicians who share their love for the mountain dulcimer and other traditional instruments and the music that is a part of our culture and heritage. They are dedicated to sharing the beauty of their music with the community and in encouraging others to see the opportunity to learn about the music, instruments and gift of music. The HeartStrings will take the stage at 10:00 AM.
Richard Horner of Decatur will entertain with a voice ‘of angels’ beginning at noon, followed by our hometown men, Josh Gentry at 12:30 PM and Brandon Gentry at 12:45. Last year, Josh and Brandon ‘jammed’ together at the delight of the audience and we hope they can do that again this year.
The Live Auction follows at 2:15 PM, which always provides for lots of fun and laughter. The Live Auction is the main fund raiser for the Festival and we hope all interested parties will show up and participate!
The Paradise Main Street Festival is free to the public and will include a vintage car show and tractor show; quilt show; lots of vendor booths; a Blue Ribbon Contest (pies, preserves, picked items); a washer tournament; raffles; and the Grand Opening of the Paradise Museum
Vendors are encouraged to download vendor forms from http://www.paradisehistoricalsociety.org/paradise-main-street-festival/. Car and tractor show entrants and Blue Ribbon Contest entries will also find forms and rules online at the same location.
